Meghan Voll joins Aging in Data as Horizon Postdoctoral Fellow

We are delighted to welcome Meghan Voll as a Horizon Postdoctoral Fellow! Meghan recently graduated from the PhD in Media Studies program in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Western University. Her doctoral research shed light on the evolving nature of relationships in a data-driven society, mapping exchanges of data between users of mobile dating apps, third parties, and parent companies. With AiD, Meghan is working on the project Deepening the Understanding of Older Adults’ Perceptions of ICT-Based Surveillance, a international qualitative study on the perception of surveillance by older adults. Following up on a large-scale quantitative study spanning seven countries, multiple languages, and thousands of participants, this project aims to deepen and contextualize the quantitative findings through qualitative inquiry. In tandem, Meghan is working on AiD’s Canadian study on surveillance, which melds qualitative and quantitative methods to understand older adults perceptions and experiences of surveillance as well as on AiD’s Data Harms in Canada: Investigating the Significance of Age project, which is conducting workshops with older and younger adults to understand their perceptions of harm when using digital technologies. With her extensive experience in qualitative research, podcasting, and data harms, Meghan brings invaluable perspectives and insights to both of these key Aging in Data projects. We’re thrilled to have her join the team!
